Steel Prophet is an American power metal band from Middletown , Connecticut that was formed in 1983.

history

The band was formed in 1983 by guitarist Steve Kachinsky Blakmoor, singer Gary Stocking, bassist Wayne Faircloth and drummer Harry Blackwell, son of jazz drummer Ed Blackwell . Blackwell left the band a little later and was replaced by John "JT" Tarascio. Stocking also had to leave the band due to his heavy alcohol consumption. Blakmoor and Tarascio moved to California in 1988 , with Vince Dennis as the new bass player and Scott Lindsenbardt as the new singer, and Domenic Chavira as the second guitarist. Lindsenbardt soon left the band and was replaced by Nick Mantis, who in turn was replaced by Rick Mythiasin due to drug problems. Mythiasin previously worked at Pantera . Guitarist Jon Paget took Chaviras' place. Then the band went to the studio to record a demo. From 1990 to 1992 appearances in the Los Angeles area followed . After that, Paget was replaced by Horacio Colmenares. The band then released their debut album The Goddess Principle in 1995. After the EP Continuum was released in 1996 , Tarascio and Colmenares left the band. Pete Parada joined the band as the new drummer and John Pons as the new guitarist. Into the Void (Hallucinogenic Conception) was the next album in 1997, after which Steel Prophet got a contract with Nuclear Blast . Dark Hallucinations appeared on this label in 1999. This was followed by a tour of Europe . Before the next album called Messiah was released in 2000 , Parada left the band and was initially replaced by drummer Kevin Cafferty. Karl Rosqvist replaced this again shortly afterwards. After the album was released, guitarist Pons left the band and was replaced by Jim Williams. In the following years, Book of the Dead (2001), Unseen (2002) and Beware (2004) three more albums were released.

style

The band plays classic American Power Metal, which is comparable to the music of groups like Agent Steel or Onward .
