Herta Nagl-Docekal

Herta Nagl-Docekal (born May 29, 1944 in Wels , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian university professor i. R. at the Institute for Philosophy at the University of Vienna , full member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences , full member of the Institut International de Philosophie , Paris and Vice President of the FISP ( Fédération Internationale des Sociétés de Philosophy ).

Career

Nagl-Docekal studied history, philosophy and German at the University of Vienna. In 1967 she became sub auspiciis Praesidentis rei publicae to Dr. phil. PhD in history at the University of Vienna (with a thesis on the history philosopher Ernst von Lasaulx ). From 1968 to 1985 Nagl-Docekal was university assistant at the Institute for Philosophy at the University of Vienna. In the summer of 1980 she taught at the Department of Philosophy, Millersville University of Pennsylvania .

In 1981 she qualified as a professor at the University of Vienna for the entire field of philosophy (habilitation thesis: The Objectivity of History ). From 1985 to 2009 Nagl-Docekal was a university professor at the Institute for Philosophy at the University of Vienna (since 2009 retired university professor).

Visiting professorships

Nagl-Docekal was visiting professor: 1990 at the University of Utrecht , Netherlands ; 1991/92 at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main ; 1993 at the University of Konstanz ; 1994/95 at the Free University of Berlin and 1995/96 at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the University of Innsbruck . In 1994 she was a visiting fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences , Vienna; 2011 visiting professor at the University of Saint Petersburg .
