The Millersville University of Pennsylvania is a State University in Millersville , Pennsylvania . Her focus is on the humanities. It is now one of 14 universities that belong to the Pennsylvania System of Higher Education .

history

Millersville University was founded in 1855 under the name Lancaster County Normal School as the first state normal school in Pennsylvania. It was named Millersville State Normal School in 1859 , was renamed Millersville State College in 1957, and finally Millersville University in 1983 .

Personalities

From 1967 to 1980, Kurt Rudolf Fischer was head of the institute at the Philosophical Institute at Millersville University . The three Viennese philosophers Kurt Buchinger , Michael Benedikt and Ludwig Nagl taught in Millersville from 1968 to 1971 .
