London Capital is a basketball club based in London , England . The club was founded in 1998 as North West London Wolverines and under this name reached promotion to the 1st division of the English Basketball League (EBL) in 2004. After advancing to the first English Basketball League, the club's name was changed to PAWS London Capital with sponsorship from the PAWS Foundation . After three years in the top English league, they were accepted into the closed professional league British Basketball League (BBL) in May 2007 , where they replaced local rivals London Unitedafter he had to declare his withdrawal from the BBL four months later. London United, for its part, had replaced the London Towers in the BBL a year earlier . In the BBL, the team was initially trained by Steve Bucknall , one of the first British players in the most highly endowed professional league NBA in the USA , who took up his first coaching position at Capital. After three years in the BBL, in which they had previously played in the lower third of the table and had only two wins in 33 games in the third season, the league organization of the BBL announced the relocation of London Capital to the first English division. After two years in the first division of the EBL, they were relegated to the second division in 2012, in which they achieved second place in the first year after relegation in 2013.
