The London Towers were a professional basketball club from London , England . The club was founded in 1984 as Tower Hamlets and initially took part as London Docklands from 1989 in the closed professional league British Basketball League (BBL). From 1991 they called themselves London Towers and from 1994 they played in the Wembley Arena and, after merging with Crystal Palace, from 1998 also in the Crystal Palace National Sports Center . Under the name Towers they won two championships in 1997 and 1999 in the BBL and took part twice in the highest European club competition ULEB Euroleague in their early days. In 2006 the game operations in the BBL had to be stopped and in 2009 the semi-professional, previous second team playing in the third division of the English Basketball League also stopped operations.
