The New York Lizards are a professional lacrosse - Franchise in New York . Since the 2001 season they have been a member of the Major League Lacrosse .
history
In 2001 the Lizards played their home games on two different courses: the Hofstra Stadium and the EAB Park (today: Bethpage Ballpark ). In the 2001 and 2002 seasons they only played in the Hofstra Stadium. From 2003 the Lizards played in the Mitchel Athletic Complex , which is located in East Garden City . In 2009 they returned to Hofstra Stadium, which in 2002 was renamed James M. Shuart Stadium . The Lizards won the American Division championship in 2001, 2002 and 2003, as well as the Major League Lacrosse title in 2001 and 2003.
Long Island Lizards announced on December 14, 2012 that the franchise would be called New York Lizards in the future .
Seasons
The Lizards competed in the MLL from 2001 to 2005 in the American Division. From 2006 to 2008 they were members of the Eastern Conference. Since 2009, the regular season has been played in a single-track league.
