The Long Lake (English for Long Lake ) is a narrow and 160 m long lake on King George Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . On the Fildes Peninsula , it is near the head end of Hydrographers Cove . It is traversed by the hydrograph stream, which flows into the bay.
The lake was named in 1973 during a Soviet Antarctic expedition. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated the Russian name into English in 1978, also to avoid confusion with Dlinnoye Lake in the Schirmacher Oasis of Queen Maud Land .
