production

The Speyside distillery's water comes from the Burnside springs. It has a mash tun ( mash do ) (7.5 t), eight fermenting tanks ( wash backs ) made of Douglas fir (per 21,262 l) and five from stainless steel (depending 42,500 l), four wash stills (per 16,820 l) and four spirit stills (3 × 15,000 l, 1 × 13,638 l) which have only been heated with steam since 1993 . Before that, coal was used for firing. The malt used came from the Benriach malt floors for about a hundred years until it was shut down in 1999 .
