The Longs Peak (formerly Long's Peak ) is 4345  m or 14,255 feet one of the 54 " Fourteeners " in the Rocky Mountains in the area of ​​the US state Colorado . It is located in Boulder County and is part of the Front Range .

The mountain, popular with mountaineers, is named after Major Stephen Long , who carried out an expedition in this area in the 1820s.

In 2006, the Front Range with Longs Peak was selected to represent the state of Colorado in the State Quarter .

Trivia

In Jules Verne's novel From the Earth to the Moon , the mountain is the location of the telescope with which the projectile is observed.
