The loof was a measure of grain in the Duchy of Courland and the Governorate of Livonia . For each type of grain there was a different number of loofs for a load . There was a burden for in the Duchy of Courland

Had in Riga

  • 1 loof = 68.863 liters and it was divided into 13 (exactly 12.19) large or 26 (exactly 24.39) small twine strands .
  • 3 Loof were 1 Tschetwert

So had Livonia in the Russian governorate

  • 1 loof either 3 heaped or 4 struck Kulmet and it was 63.3177 liters

Had in the Russian governorate of Estonia with Reval

  • 1 load of grain = 72 loof
  • 1 loof = 42.373 liters.
  • 1 barrel of salt = 4 loof.

With other goods the conditions were as follows:

  • 1 load had 50 loof for oats, 36 loof for peas , 40.5 loof for wheat, 48 loof for barley and linseed and 45 loof for rye.
