Lopevi is an uninhabited island in the province of Malampa in Vanuatu . The island is southeast of Ambrym and east of Paama . The island consists essentially of a volcanic cone that is about seven kilometers in diameter. The cone reaches a height of 1413 m. The Lopévi has erupted around 22 times since 1862. People still lived on the island until 1960, but they moved to the neighboring islands due to the threat of volcanic eruptions.
The Lopévi lies on the subduction zone between the Pacific plate and the Australian plate .
