The Mae Nam Lop Buri ( Thai : แม่น้ำ ลพบุรี , "Lop Buri River"), or just Lop Buri , is a river in central Thailand . It is about 95 km long.
The Lop Buri branches off from the Mae Nam Chao Phraya at Tambon Bang Phutsa, Sing Buri Province , and then flows further south. After flowing through the Amphoe Tha Wung and the city of Lop Buri , he goes back to the Chao Phraya with the Mae Nam Pa Sak . The rivers form a kind of rectangle, so that an island has formed. The later capital Ayutthaya was founded here in the 14th century .
