Lorenc Antoni
Lorenc Antoni (born September 23, 1909 in Skopje , † October 21, 1991 in Pristina ) was a Yugoslav composer, choir director, ethnomusicologist and music educator. He is considered the most important Albanian-speaking composer in Yugoslavia .
Life
Lorenc Antoni founded the first music school in the province of Kosovo in Prizren in 1948 ; this was named after Josip Štolcer-Slavenski , but now bears the name Antonis. Until 1956 he was director of this music school.
From 1956 he was music editor at Radio Priština . He composed works for choirs and orchestra. These works take up elements from Albanian folk music. In addition, he put together an extensive collection of Albanian folk songs and published books and articles on the subject. He also directed several choirs.
