Lorenz Hargassner

Lorenz Hargassner (born July 1, 1978 in Vienna ) is an Austrian jazz musician ( saxophone , composition ) and university teacher.

Lorenz Hargassner began to play the saxophone at the age of 20 and attended the Gustav Mahler Conservatory before studying at the Hanover University of Music and Drama , where he graduated in 2003. With a full tuition scholarship from New School University , he continued his studies in New York; there he had u. a. Lessons with Seamus Blake , Miguel Zénon and Peter Bernstein . From 2005 he studied in Berlin, where he obtained his master's degree at the Berlin Jazz Institute in 2007 with distinction. In 2008 he presented his debut album Diversityville ( Double Moon Records ), followed by Vitality ( Unit Records , 2011) and When Lights Are Low ( Minor music , 2012) with the formation Pure Desmond (with Christian Flohr , Sebastian Deufel , Johann Weiß ), which was included in the quarterly best list of the German Record Critics' Prize in 2012. Since autumn 2008 Hargassner has been teaching saxophone at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media in the Popular Music bachelor's degree . He lives in Hamburg.
