Lorenz Mack (pseudonyms: Carnicus, Calvin Carr, Georg Gutenstein, Alexander Stern) (born June 17, 1917 in Ferlach ; died July 26, 1991 in Stolzalpe ) was an Austrian writer , publicist , cultural organizer, head of the cultural office and librarian in Sankt Veit on the Glan .

Life

Born as the son of a gunsmith, he first learned his father's trade. After participating in World War II, Mack was a teacher, editor of a cultural magazine and, since 1951, a freelance writer.

Lorenz Mack was the first president of the Carinthian Writers' Association, member of the Austrian PEN Club, initiator and founder of the discussion forum "podium" (St. Veit an der Glan, 1965) and, together with Hermann Lienhard, initiator of the cultural days in St. Veit an der Glan .

From 1951 to 1952 he was editor of the literary magazine Die Drau. Monthly pages for spiritual life and communication .
