Lorenz Rumpf

Lorenz Rumpf is a German classical philologist .

Life

He studied classical philology, English philology , Romance philology , Jewish studies , comparative linguistics and Indology , philosophy and sociology at the University of Pisa and the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , where he received his doctorate in 1995 . He worked in the Research Center for Byzantine Legal Sources at the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History in Frankfurt. The DFG sponsored him from 1997 to 2000 as a habilitation fellow (project title: Aesthetic Experience and Conceptual Knowledge in Lucretius' de rerum natura ). Meanwhile he also taught at the universities of Frankfurt, Kiel and Leipzig and conducted research at the German Archaeological Institute in Rome , the American Academy in Rome and in Princeton . From winter semester 2000/2001 to summer semester 2006 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Classical Philology at the University of Frankfurt am Main. After completing his habilitation in 2002, he was appointed private lecturer . From summer semester 2005 to summer semester 2006, he also taught at the Department of Classical Philology at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . Since the 2006/2007 winter semester he has been an academic advisor at the Institute for Classical Philology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University. In the 2009/2010 winter semester he was a professor at the Institute for Classical Studies at the University of Cologne . In October 2009 he was appointed adjunct professor at the University of Frankfurt. In the 2011 summer semester, he took up the chair at the Frankfurt Institute for Classical Philology.
