Lorenz Schreiber (mentioned 1643–1704) was a Swiss sculptor .

Live and act

Lorenz Schreiber was the son of a sculptor of the same name who immigrated from Lübeck . 1643–1646 he made an apprenticeship as a carpenter with Niclaus Bruder in Basel. He later moved to Schaffhausen , where he worked as a sculptor and was granted citizenship free of charge in 1653. There he created the portal of the “Schmiedstube” in 1653, the portal and bay window of the “Sittich” house in 1654 and, in 1704, the relief of the coat of arms on the Abtsscheune in Merishausen . The bay window on the “Buchsbaum” house (1657), the statue of Tell on the Tellen or Schuhmacherbrunnen (1682) and reliefs of the coat of arms on the Schützenhaus (around 1686) are attributed to him.
