Lorenzo Lippi

Lorenzo Lippi (born May 3, 1606 in Florence , † April 15, 1665 ibid) was an Italian painter and poet of the Baroque period .

Life

He was one of the students of the painter Matteo Rosseli , but was also very strongly influenced by Santi di Tito , whose style of natural figure representation he was very much oriented towards. At the age of 40 he married Elisabetta, the daughter of the wealthy sculptor Gianfrancesco Susini . Apart from a stay as court painter in Innsbruck (1647–1649), where he was called by Claudia de Medici , he spent his life in Florence. During his time in Innsbruck he wrote a parody Il Malmantile racquistato under the pseudonym Perlone Zipoli . Posterity particularly valued his small poetic oeuvre .
