Lorenzo Sebastian O'Neal (born July 19, 1988 in Baden ) is an Austrian basketball player .

career

O'Neal made his debut in the Bundesliga in the 2004/05 season in the shirt of the Kapfenberg Bulls . He came to Basket Clubs of Vienna via Gmunden and Mattersburg in 2008 and became a key player in the capital. In the 2009/10 game year in particular, he stood out when he led Vienna in the statistical categories of points per game (13.4) and basket assists per game (3.7).

This was followed by three years in the service of the Panthers Fürstenfeld , during which he served as team captain before returning to Vienna: The Basket Clubs of Vienna was now called BC Vienna.

From 2015 to 2017 O'Neal played on the playmaker position for the WBC Wels  . In August 2017, O'Neal was given a four-year ban for violating anti-doping guidelines. In the corresponding press release of the Austrian Anti-Doping Law Commission (ÖADR) it was said that O'Neal had “given a urine sample that did not come from himself” on May 18, 2017 in Wels in the course of a Bundesliga game. The suspension began retrospectively on May 19, 2017 and was set until May 18, 2021.

National team

O'Neal played in the U16, U18 and U20 for Austria's junior national teams and took part in several B-European championship tournaments. At the U18-B-EM 2006 he was the best thrower of the Austrian selection with an average of 15.0 points. Later he was also a member of the men's national team.

family

His father Renaldo O'Neal  was employed as a professional basketball player in Austria after moving from the United States. Lorenzo's half-brother Adrian Mitchell also became a Bundesliga basketball player.
