Lorenzo Olarte Cullen (* 1933 ) was President of the Government of the Canary Islands , an autonomous community in Spain , from 1989 to 1991 .

Lorenzo Olarte is a lawyer . 1974 began his political career as President of the Government of Gran Canaria. In 1992 he founded the Centro Canario Independiente (CCI) , which later became the Centro Canario Nacionalista (CCN) . This later formed the Coalición Canaria CC together with other parties . Under Fernando Fernández Martín , Olarte became Vice President of the Canary Islands in 1987. In 1988 Olarte took over the post of Canarian President from 1988 to 1991.

From 1995 to 1999, Olarte was again Vice President, this time under Manuel Antonio Hermoso Rojas . After that, Olarte withdrew from politics. He said he was looking after his family and his legal practice. In mid-2006 he returned to regional policy with discussions.
