Loreto Monastery

With a donation of 5000 guilders from 1631 by Friedrich von Grimming, who then became a Capuchin, a Maria Loreto monastery was built on behalf of Archbishop Paris von Lodron from 1633 and consecrated in 1637. The monastery was occupied by nuns of the Regulated Capuchin Sisters of Perpetual Adoration , who fled the women's monastery in Landshut to Salzburg during the Thirty Years' War in 1632, when the King of Sweden invaded Bavaria and occupied Munich .

In the monastery there is a wooden relief Lamentation of Christ from the first quarter of the 17th century by Hans Waldburger .

Loreto Church

The Loreto Church was built from 1633 to 1648, rebuilt after a fire in 1818 and rebuilt from 1947 to 1949 after severe damage in the bombing war in 1944. The church is a simple hall building with a simple smooth facade with three attached chapels. Above the marble portal is a coat of arms of Archbishop Paris Lodron. The rectangular nave with a wooden coffered ceiling is connected to the octagonal choir chapel, which has wall niches, via a narrow, barrel-vaulted passage.

The high altar from the 17th century shows a root Jesse and a Trinity group . There are three miraculous images of the Black Madonna . In a niche is a miraculous image of Maria von Altötting . The left side chapel shows a miraculous image of Maria Einsiedeln . The right side chapel shows the miraculous image of Maria Loreto, Saints Joachim and Anna and an angel who carries the Loreto house . The tabernacle and figures in the niches were created around 1820 after the Loreto church was restored after a fire. In the nave are two baroque altars from 1949. Above the triumphal arch is a carved mercy chair from the 17th century. There is a wrought iron grille from 1735.
