The Loretto Street is a street in Dusseldorf - Unterbilk .
Location and history
Lorettostraße is located between Bilker Church and the police headquarters on Jürgensplatz. The namesake of the Loretto Road was built in 1686 Loretto Chapel , a replica of St. House of Nazareth in the pilgrimage town of Loreto in central Italy. In place of the Loreto Chapel there is the Bilker Church today. The Graf-Adolf-Platz route to the Bilker Church of the Düsseldorf tram , opened on November 10, 1893, led over Lorettostraße.
Today, renovated houses in the style of the Wilhelminian era line the street. Lorettostraße is connected to the Friedensplatz via Düsselstraße in the north and Bürgerstraße in the south.
retail trade
The mix of boutiques, designer scene, delicatessen and restaurants on Lorettostraße is a focal point for the residents of Unterbilk, with the infrastructure and gastronomy frequented both by the residents themselves and at lunchtime by employees of the media harbor , which is within walking distance . The Loretto 360 ° dealer community provides special promotions with events such as "Spring Awakening", "Midsummer" and "Indian Summer". There is then a midnight shopping with live music and catering.
Today's appearance
In 2005, the wishes and suggestions of local business people and residents were discussed in a moderation process. The implementation of the draft recommendations then led to an upgrading of Lorettostraße in 2007. Among other things, the no longer used tram tracks were removed, additional trees were also planted in the adjacent streets, such as Düsselstraße, additional bicycle racks were set up, a 30 km / h speed limit was set up and the sidewalk was widened in selected places. The latter allows it to be used as an outdoor area for local restaurants. The city of Düsseldorf invested 250,000 euros in these improvement measures, which were carried out between September and November 2007.
