Los Endos is the instrumental final track of Genesis' album A Trick of the Tail . It was written together by the band and was a reprise of some of the melodies on the album.
background
Phil Collins developed the basic rhythmic structure inspired by Santana's Promise of a Fisherman (1974). He brought a looser style of play in the band, also from his side project Brand X was affected. Tony Banks and Steve Hackett wrote the main themes, including quotes from Dance on a Volcano and Squonk .
In the fade out of the song, Collins sang barely perceptible the line "There's an angel standing in the sun ... free to get back home" from Supper's Ready from the album Foxtrot , which was interpreted as a homage to Peter Gabriel, who left before this album .
The song became a standard at the end of a concert, as a rhythmic and melodic-triumphant end.
The song was almost always played live with two drummers, mostly Phil Collins and Chester Thompson , often seamlessly after a drum duet . There are recordings of it on Seconds Out and Live over Europe 2007 .
Cover versions
In 2014, Hackett added the song to the playlist of his expanded Genesis Revisited II tour.
