Maddalena Del Gobbo

Maddalena del Gobbo (* with Udine ) is an Italian cellist who mainly plays viol and baryton .

Life

Maddalena del Gobbo took piano and ballet lessons at the age of four and began playing the cello at the age of eight . Later she also received singing lessons. From the age of thirteen she studied at the Vienna Conservatory and completed her cello studies with a master's degree .

Del Gobbo mainly plays the viola da gamba . In 2012 she was a finalist in the international viol competition “Principe Francesco Maria Ruspoli”. She has appeared at festivals and has given concerts as a soloist and chamber music in Europe and China, including at the “Musica Antiqua” concert cycle in the Wiener Musikverein , at the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music , in the “U21” concert series by BR-Klassik , in the Wiener State Opera and on various occasions together with members of the Vienna Philharmonic

Del Gobbo founded the ensemble "Ad Cor", which specializes in chamber music for viola da gamba. She also worked as a jury member in international competitions in Austria and Italy.

Her first CD “Viola d'Emozione” was released in 2014, followed by the CD “Henriette, the Princess of the Viol” in 2016. The latter is Deutsche Grammophon's first CD release with a female viola player .

Del Gobbo currently plays a viola da gamba by Johann Seelos from 1691 on loan from the Orpheon Foundation.
