Clairac solder bridge

The solder bridge Clairac is a road bridge in Clairac in the department of Lot-et-Garonne in the French region Nouvelle-Aquitaine .

description

The two-lane bridge leads the départementale  D146 over the Lot and the Quai de la République. The high bridge has a long, elevated ramp into avenue de la Liberation (D146). The Rue Gambetta branches off from the Quai de la République and climbs up an elevated ramp to a confluence with the bridge.

The bridge is 202 m long and 8 m wide. It crosses the river with three 49 m wide segmental arches, where the roadway is elevated on two slender reinforced concrete arches .

The bridge was designed by Nicolas Esquillan and built by Entreprises Boussiron between 1936 and 1939.

history

The first bridge over the Lot in Clairac was a suspension bridge , by virtue of a 1831 granted the concession of the public limited company Compagnie du Pont de Clairac the Sieurs Balguerie was built, an old, respected family, whose members have the Pont de pierre in Bordeaux had built. The bridge toll was abolished in 1889 . The bridge itself was still in service until 1935, when it was finally no longer able to cope with the increased traffic.
