Lothar Deeg

Lothar Deeg (born November 26, 1965 in Bad Mergentheim ) is a German journalist and author who lives and works in Russia .

Life

Deeg studied at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich with a degree in journalism and completed further training at the German School of Journalism . He lives in St. Petersburg.

Deeg began his journalistic career in 1991 at Ringier Verlag , where he worked as an editor for Fliegermagazin until 1993 . During this time he traveled through the Russian Far East , after returning he learned the Russian language at the adult education center and in 2004 moved to Saint Petersburg , from where he worked for German-language media.

In 1996 he published the book Kunst & Albers Wladiwostok in Germany . The story of a German trading house in the Russian Far East 1864–1924 about the former German trading house Kunst und Albers , which had its headquarters in Vladivostok . It was published there in 2002 in Russian, translated by Elena Krepak. In 2012 the book was reissued in Vladivostok by the publishing house of the Far Eastern Federal University there (FEFU) in Russian and English in a revised version. In Germany, the work was published shortly afterwards in a new version with additional content under the title Kunst & Albers. The department store kings of Vladivostok. From 2003 to 2015 Deeg was the editor of the German-language internet newspaper Russia-Aktuell , and has been with russland.RU ever since . In addition, from 2005 to 2007 he was editor-in-chief of the St. Petersburgische Zeitung . He published a Marco Polo travel guide about Saint Petersburg in 2008. In 2011 he published the book Kulturschock Russland, which he wrote together with Susanne Brammerloh . Brammerloh worked with him at Russia Aktuell and now at russland.RU. Deeg reports from Russia for German, Swiss and Austrian newspapers, for trade magazines as well as for radio and television.

Deeg is married to a St. Petersburg woman and has one son.
