Lothar Eley

Lothar Eley (born June 19, 1931 in Paderborn ) is a German philosopher , logician and phenomenologist .

Life

Eley studied theology , philosophy , mathematics , physics and education at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster . In 1962 he was at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Cologne with a thesis on the crisis of the a priori in the transcendental phenomenology of Edmund Husserl doctorate . In 1969 he completed his habilitation on the meta-criticism of formal logic. In 1970, he received a call to the chair of philosophy at the University of Cologne. Since his retirement he has been teaching as an emeritus at the Philosophical Seminar of the University of Cologne.

Lothar Eley has published numerous scientific papers on German idealism , in particular on Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel , the phenomenology of Edmund Husserl and the phenomenology of logic and society. He is editor of Edmund Husserl's "Philosophy of Arithmetic" (1970) and Edmunds Husserl's "Experience and Judgment" (1972) edited by L. Landgrebe. His best-known works are Metacritic of Formal Logic (1969), Transcendental Phenomenology and Systems Theory of Society (1972) and Hegel's Science of Logic (1976).
