Lothar Englert

Lothar Englert (born July 18, 1933 in Hainsberg ; † October 3, 2015 in Schwedt / Oder ) was a German engineer and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Englert studied mechanical engineering / technology and paper technology at the Technical University of Dresden from 1952 to 1957 . He passed the examination as a graduate engineer and worked from 1956 to 1961 as a research assistant and assistant at the TU Dresden. From 1961 to 1989 he worked at VEB paper and cardboard plants in Schwedt. In 1989/90 he held managerial positions in production and investment at Schwedt Papier & Karton GmbH.

Lothar Englert was married and had three children.

Englert joined the SPD after the political change in the GDR and was elected to the Schwedt city council in 1990. From 1990 to 1999 he was a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament . From 1993 to 1999 he was a member of the Committee for Economics, Medium-Sized Enterprises and Technology, which he chaired in 1993/94. In parliament he represented the Schwedt constituency from 1990 to 1994 and the Uckermark III constituency from 1994 to 1999 .
