Lothar Gentsch (born January 14, 1935 in Wintersdorf , Meuselwitz ) is a former German soccer player in the defensive midfield and soccer coach. He played for the SC activist Brieske-Senftenberg in the GDR Oberliga .

Career

Gentsch played in his youth for his hometown club BSG activist Wintersdorf. In 1955 he moved to Lusatia for SC activist Brieske-Senftenberg , who played in the major league. Gentsch made his professional debut on April 8, 1956, when he was in the starting line-up against SC Lokomotive Leipzig on matchday four. In the 1956 season he was only used sporadically at the beginning, but gradually developed into a regular force, so that in the end he came to 16 missions. This season Gentsch was runner-up with Brieske-Senftenberg. Also in the following seasons he was mostly used. Only in his last season 1962/63 he came with 13 games to relatively few games. After this season, the SC activist Brieske-Senftenberg rose from bottom of the table in the GDR league. Gentsch scored his first goal on September 21, 1958 against SC Turbine Erfurt . In 1963 he was hired by the newly founded SC Cottbus . In 1963/64 he played all 30 league games in his first season. Gentsch also succeeded in this in 1964/65 , in 1965/66 he was only missing on one match day. From 1966 Gentsch belonged to the BSG Energie Cottbus, which had emerged from the SC Cottbus. For the BSG he completed 15 games in the 1966/67 season before ending his career in 1967.

After his career, Gentsch worked as head coach at BSG Lokomotive Cottbus from 1968 to 1985 and from 1986 to 1989 , but then had to quit for health reasons.

Life

Gentsch lives in Cottbus-Sandow, is married and has one son.
