Lothar Höfgen (born May 27, 1936 in Wiesbaden ) is a German dancer , choreographer and ballet director .

Career

Lothar Höfgen began his training at the age of 9 at the ballet school of the Wiesbaden State Theater . His teachers and supporters include a. Edgar von Pelchrziem, Peter Roleff, Hedy Dähler, Peter van Dyk, Aurelio von Milloss and Maurice Béjart . His engagements first took him to the Nuremberg Municipal Theaters in 1952 , then to the National Theater Mannheim in 1953, to the Lübeck Municipal Theater in 1954 , as a soloist to the Mainz Municipal Theater in 1955 and finally to the Cologne Municipal Theaters in 1959 . From 1970 to 1973 he was ballet master at the Stadttheater Bonn and from 1978 ballet director of the Lower Saxony State Opera in Hanover .

He is a founding member of the Hanover Ballet Society and the initiator of the International Choreography Competition , Hanover.
