Ballet Society Hanover

The Ballett Gesellschaft Hannover is a registered association in Hannover , which was founded in 1985. The aim of the association is to promote and develop dance as an art form. The association's activities focus on modern ballet, contemporary dance and future-oriented choreographies. Since 1986 the association has been organizing one of the world's most important choreography competitions with choreography - the Hanover International Choreography Competition . Since 2016 the Ballet Society Hannover has been a member of the umbrella organization for dance in Germany .

With this competition, the association gives young choreographers the opportunity to publicly present their work to an expert jury and to perform it with professional stage technology. It also serves as a forum for exchanging views with one another and with the audience. Participation requirement for choreographers and dancers is professional training. The choreographers must not be older than 35 years. The choreography must be 5 to 12 minutes long, and a solo ballet must not be interpreted by the choreographer. The choice of topics and music is free. The competition is open to any stylistic direction. Evaluation criteria are solely an imaginative use of space and time, the dance realization of an idea and its transfer to the performers.

Prices

The 1st to 3rd prizes are endowed with prizes of 6,000 to 2,000 euros. In addition, the Critics' Prize and the Audience Prize are awarded.

There are also production prizes and grants. The Delattre Dance Company Prize is introduced for the first time. The winner will have the opportunity to present the choreography shown in the competition in a production by the Delattre Dance Company with dancers from the DDC. The artistic director and choreographer Stéphen Delattre founded the DDC in 2012. In 2010 he received the Critics' Prize at the Hanover International Choreography Competition . The European Center for the Arts Hellerau (Dresden) awards a scholarship. The laureate can work out a choreography with his own dancers and / or graduates of the Palucca School Dresden and perform it in the Hellerau Festival Hall .

Another scholarship, the Tanja Liedtke Scholarship , is awarded by the Tanja Liedtke Foundation on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the International Competition for Choreographers Hanover , which includes lessons at the Australian Dance Theater .

Ed Wubbe has been awarding the Scapino Puktionspreis since 2005 . The price includes the development of your own choreography with dancers from the Scapino Ballet and the presentation as part of the TWOOLS series.

The Federal Youth Ballet Puktionspreis has been awarded since 2012 . The Puktionspreis includes the development of a choreography with the Federal Youth Ballet.

In 2014 Gauthier Dance / Theaterhaus Stuttgart presented a production award for the first time: Gauthier Dance was founded in 2007 by Eric Gauthier. In 2007 he won the Critics' Prize and the Audience Award, and in 2011 he also received the German Dance Prize »Future« 2011 for choreography.
