Count Élie Marie Gabriel Dor de Lastours (born August 12, 1874 in Orgeval , † November 18, 1932 in Castres ) was a French tennis player and fencer and later ambassador and politician .

biography

Count de Lastours went to the Gerson School in Paris and later studied in Toulouse . He initially strived for a military career, but ultimately decided on a diplomatic career and studied law.

He took part in the tennis competition of the Summer Olympics in Paris in 1900 . He did not compete in the individual. He took part in doubles with his partner Guy Lejeune . The two lost to another French pairing of Georges de la Chapelle and André Prévost in the first round . In the fencing competition he entered with the sword and was also eliminated early. In 1901 he reached the quarter-finals of the European Tennis Championships in tennis , in 1908 he lost in the second round of Wimbledon .

After his sporting career, he became the French ambassador in London . He later became a Member of Parliament in the Tarn department , where he took care of foreign and colonial affairs in Algeria .
