Lothar Klünner

Lothar Klünner (born April 3, 1922 in Berlin ; † October 19, 2012 , alias Leo Kettler (as a shaker and as the author of other creations of the light muse and his journalistic work)) was a German writer and translator of literary texts from French.

Lothar Klünner studied theology and later art history in Tübingen and Berlin. He wrote poetry from an early age. From 1946 he translated v. a. René Char , Paul Éluard , Guillaume Apollinaire , Iwan Goll . Many translations are created in collaboration with the poet Johannes Hübner .

From 1948 to 1949 he worked for the cultural magazine Athena . His first poems and prose pieces were published in the art and literary magazine Meta , edited by KO Goetz . From 1949 he worked as a freelance writer and translator in Berlin. Lothar Klünner worked from 1949 to 1950 to the first post-war Berlin cabaret of the bathtub in the Femina bar with ( bath , Rationsstrich and jellyfish whip ). During a stay in France in 1951 he met René Char, with whom he remained on friendly terms for decades. Since 1955 he has been earning his living primarily as an author for radio, especially for RIAS Berlin and SFB , for which he produced around 1,000 small and large radio programs. After a first own volume of poetry ( Gläserne Ufer , 1957) followed the co-editing of the yearbook Speichen (1968–1971), which was hardly noticed by the public. After the death of his friend Johannes Huebner, Klünner published the Johannes Huebner memorial volume Im Spiegel and several posthumous editions of Huebner's poems. The Jeanne Mammen Society founded by Johannes Hübner also owes its success to Lothar Klünner's collaboration.

Lothar Klünner was one of the few German-speaking authors who, shortly after the end of the Second World War , orientated themselves on the literature of international modernism, especially French-language literature, and processed the experiences of Surrealism . As a post-poet and translator, he played a major role in the dissemination of surrealistic texts in German-speaking countries. Klünner kept his distance from the "literary establishment".

After the publication of the collection Stumme Muse submarin (1997), which contains a selection of love poems from five decades of poetry, he published further volumes of poetry, such as the volume Geerdet with poems from 2000 to 2005.
