Lothar Lappe

Lothar Lappe (born September 28, 1936 in Helmstedt ) is a former German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador in Somalia .

Life

Lappe attended elementary school and learned the trade of machinist. After graduating from high school, he studied history and physical education at the Potsdam University of Education from 1959 to 1964. He then worked as a teacher at the POS Feldberg. From 1966 to 1968 he completed postgraduate studies at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald and from 1970 to 1971 an additional course at the German Academy for Political Science and Law (DASR).

From 1971 he worked in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the GDR (MfAA). He was initially an attaché at the GDR embassy in Zambia and from 1971 to 1973 worked in the East and Central Africa department of the MfAA. From 1973 to 1976 he served as Second Secretary and Deputy Head of the Embassy in Uganda. From 1976 to 1981 he worked again as an employee in the East and Central Africa department of the MfAA. From July 15, 1981 to August 1984, he worked as the GDR's ambassador in Somalia (successor to Eberhard Kunz ). From 1984 to 1990 he worked as a research assistant at the MfAA.

Lappe was a member of the SED . He was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze in 1987 .
