Eberhard Kunz

Eberhard Kunz (born May 11, 1937 in Neuwürschnitz ) is a German diplomat . He was ambassador of the GDR to Somalia from 1978 to 1981 and to the Philippines from 1986 to 1989.

Life

He comes from a family of miners from Neuwürschnitzer. In Neuwürschnitz II he attended school until 1952, after which he switched to the two-year school for hard coal mining in Stollberg / Erzgeb. As a younghauer from the Oelsnitz coal field, Eberhard Kunz was delegated to the Workers and Farmers Faculty (ABF) in Freiberg in 1954 . In 1957 he passed the final examination at the ABF in Leipzig. He then began studying law at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig . Just one year later he was delegated to the Institute for International Relations in Moscow to study foreign policy , where he received training in philosophy, history and international law and learned the foreign languages ​​Russian, English and Swahili.

1964 doctorate Eberhard Kunz to Dr. rer. pole. Then he became senior consultant in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the GDR. In March 1965 he went to the GDR consulate in Zanzibar as vice consul, where he worked until 1968. From 1970 to 1973 Eberhard Kunz was deputy head of the GDR embassy in Somalia and from 1976 to 1978 in the same position in Tanzania . In 1978 he became ambassador to Somalia, where he was received by President Mohammed Siad Barre for a farewell visit in 1981 . In 1986 Eberhard Kunz became the GDR ambassador to the Philippines. In 1989 he resigned from this office.
