Lothar Reidock (born October 31, 1940 in Noldau ) was a football player in the GDR upper league . In the top division of the East German Football Association , he played for SC Aufbau Magdeburg and BSG Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt .

Athletic career

At the age of ten Reidock began to play organized football for the first time at the company sports community (BSG) Traktor in Bördedorf Irxleben near Magdeburg . He came to the regional top club SC Aufbau Magdeburg at the beginning of 1960 through the sports communities Aufbau Börde Magdeburg and Dynamo Oschersleben. He was part of the concept of the Magdeburg trainer Fritz Wittenbecher to refresh the team that had been promoted to the top league with young talents. Together with the 18-year-old Reidock, the later pillars of Joachim Walter (19) and Wolfgang Blochwitz (19) from Magdeburg were new to the team.

At first it seemed as if Reidock would be able to gain a foothold in the SC construction. In his first two seasons, he completed 38 of the 65 Bundesliga point games played as a defensive player. In the 1962/63 season, however, he was only used once on the 8th matchday. After the first half of the season, Reidock was delegated to BSG Turbine Magdeburg , whose soccer team played as a newcomer in the second-rate GDR league . Reidock stayed with Turbine Magdeburg for a year and a half.

At the beginning of the 1964/65 season, Reidock moved to the GDR league club Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt. When carriers operating Eisenhüttenkombinat East he was hired as a gas master. When Stahl ended the season as promoted to the league in 1968/69, Reidock was not part of the first team's squad. In the league he started with Eisenhüttenstadt on the 6th matchday as a central defender. Later he was mostly used as a libero , but only completed a total of twelve top division games. After relegation from the league, BSG Stahl was then downgraded to the Frankfurt district league for violating the association's statutes, so Reidock had to play in the third division for a year. After the promotion he played for Eisenhüttenstadt until 1973 in the GDR league, after which he ended his career as a competitive athlete. From 1973 to 1976, Reidock, who had graduated from the Sports School Blankenburg with a degree as a sports teacher, took on the training of the Eisenhüttenstadt GDR league team.
