Lothar Witek

Lothar Witek (born February 2, 1933 in Rheydt ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1980 to 1983 and from 1984 to 1987 .

Life

After attending grammar school, Witek completed an apprenticeship as an electrician from 1948, which he completed in 1951 with the journeyman's examination. In the following years he worked as an electrician. From 1960 to 1980 he worked as an administrative clerk, most recently as chief government secretary.

Witek joined the SPD in 1963 and was later elected chairman of the SPD sub-district of Mönchengladbach. From 1964 he was a council member of the city of Mönchengladbach, from 1979 also chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. After internal party differences, he resigned the parliamentary group chairmanship in 1989 and subsequently resigned from the SPD.

In the Bundestag elections in 1980 , 1983 and 1987 Witek ran unsuccessfully for the SPD as a direct candidate in the Bundestag constituency of Mönchengladbach . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1980 to 1983 and from July 16, 1984, when he replaced Ulrich Steger , who had left the Bundestag , until 1987. In both electoral terms he entered parliament via the SPD state list in North Rhine-Westphalia. In the ninth electoral term (1980-1983) he was a member of the Home Affairs Committee .
