Charlotte "Lotte" Mühe , later Lotte Eschrich , (born January 24, 1910 in Uelzen ; † January 10, 1981 in Magdeburg ) was a German swimmer .

Life

Lotte Mühe started for the Hildesheim swimming club in 1899 . At the European Championships in Bologna ( Italy ) in 1927 , she finished second behind Hilde Schrader on the 200-meter chest distance .

In 1928 Lotte Mühe improved the world record for the 100 meter chest in Magdeburg by two and a half seconds to 1: 26.3 minutes. In 1928 she set two world records over the Olympic distance of 200 meters chest . In April she swam in Magdeburg 3: 15.8 minutes. After the Dutch Marie Baron undercut her record by three seconds a week later, Lotte Mühe took back the record in July at the German Championship in Berlin in 3: 11.2 minutes. At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam ( Netherlands ) in August of the same year , it no longer had the shape of Berlin. Hilde Schrader won ahead of Marie Baron, Lotte Mühe took the bronze medal in 3: 17.6 minutes after she had won against Baron in 3: 14.2 minutes. Lotte Mühe won the German championship again in 1929 in 3: 18.4 minutes.

For her services to sport in Lower Saxony , she was included in the Lower Saxony Sports Honor Gallery of the Lower Saxony Institute for Sports History.
