Louis-Albert Carvin (born August 7, 1875 in Paris; † January 6, 1951 there ) was a French sculptor who devoted himself to the modeling of human and animal figures.

life and work

As a student of Emmanuel Frémiet , Carvin was a member of the Society of French Artists , which exhibited at its own fairs from the end of the 19th century to 1933. In 1894 he received an honorable mention there.

Carvin made the trophy entitled "The Muse of Aviation" (in French "Muse de l'aviation"), which was cast in bronze and given on May 1, 1909 by Leon Bollee , President of the Aero Club de Sarthe , the brothers Wilbur and Orville Wright , which is still in the Wright family home in Hawthorne Hill, Dayton, Ohio . At the time of his reception at the Royal Aeronautical Society in London, Carvin made a bust of each of the Wright brothers.

Another of his works from 1934, “Barzoï”, can be seen in Clamart on the Place de la Maison Blanche.

He is also the creator of many sculptures of deer, deer, lions, lions, panthers, birds, cats, dogs (especially wolfhounds) and, more rarely, horses. One of these horse sculptures is a thoroughbred couple, stallion and mare , sometimes called an embrace , which is kept as a plaster model in the JB Deposée foundry in Paris.

Carvin was also known as a painter.
