Louis-Marie de Blignières (* 1949 in Madrid ; actually Olivier Le Barbier de Blignières ) is the incumbent prior of the ancient ritualistic Catholic Fraternité Saint-Vincent-Ferrier .

Live and act

After finishing school in Paris (1956–1967), Olivier de Blignières studied at the École Sainte-Geneviève de Versailles and the Faculté des Sciences d'Orsay from 1967–1972. He spent the years 1972–1975 in a Swiss Benedictine monastery. He completed his theological studies in the Society of St. Pius X. and was ordained a priest in 1977 by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre . In addition to theology, he has further degrees in mathematics and astrophysics as well as a doctorate in philosophy, which he obtained with the font Le mystère de l'être. In 1979 he founded the Fraternité Saint-Vincent-Ferrier in Chémeré-le-Roi (Mayenne; France), which refers to the traditions of the Dominican order and also celebrates its old religious liturgy (as of 1962). At times he was close to Michel Louis-Bertrand Guérard des Lauriers and his sedisvakantist views. In 1988 de Blignières and his Fraternité opposed Marcel Lefebvre (excommunicated in 1988; † 1991) and were accepted into the “full communion of the Catholic Church” by the Ecclesia Dei papal commission . In 1998 and again in 2004, Father Louis-Marie de Blignières was elected prior of the Saint-Thomas d'Aquin convent in Chéméré.

He is the son of the French war hero and OAS manager Hervé Le Barbier de Blignières (1914–1989) and brother of the publicist Hugues Keraly (actually Hugues-Emmanuel Le Barbier de Blignières) and Father Bruno de Blignières ( Arnaud Le Barbier de Blignières) of the Society of St. Peter .
