Louis Calaferte
Louis Calaferte (born July 14, 1928 in Turin ; died May 2, 1994 in Dijon ) was a French writer of Italian origin.
Life
Louis Calaferte grew up in Lyon and initially worked in a factory during the war. At the age of 19 he went to Paris, where he made a living as an actor. Joseph Kessel took care of him and in 1952 saw to it that his autobiographical novel Requiem des innocents was published ; Partage des vivants followed in 1953 . In 1956 he moved back to the Lyon area. He became a freelance writer and found a job with local radio, and from 1974 with ORTF .
From 1984 he lived in Blaisy-Bas in the Dijon area, where he died in 1994 at the age of 65. His wife Guillemette edited more of his writings from the estate. In addition to novels, Calaferte wrote plays, poems and essays. His book Septentrion (1963) was put on the index for pornography .
Jérôme de Missolz filmed Calaferte's late work La Mécanique des femmes (1992).
