Louis Edward Keenan Junior

Louis Edward "Ned" Keenan, Jr. (born May 13, 1935 in Buffalo , New York (state) , United States ; † March 6, 2015 in Deer Isle , Maine , United States) was Professor of History at Harvard University . He specialized in medieval Russian history. Within his field he became prominent through studies in which he attempted to analyze and ultimately refuted the authenticity of the great resources in East Slavic history.

Born in a small village in western New York state near Buffalo, Keenan graduated from high school in Orchard Park in 1953 . Keenan studied with Omeljan Pritsak at Harvard University . He died at the age of 79 in his Deer Isle home.

Keenan was considered one of the world's foremost experts on Russian medieval history .
