Louis Ehlert

Louis Ehlert (born January 23, 1825 in Königsberg i. Pr. , † January 4, 1884 in Wiesbaden ) was a German composer and music critic .

Life

Ehlert studied from 1845 at the Leipzig Conservatory under Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy . Since 1850 he lived in Berlin , where he taught at the of Carl Tausig founded the higher piano game school was. From 1863 to 1865 he lived in Florence . Back in Berlin, he devoted himself to composition and music writing . He later taught the children of Georg II in Meiningen (Saxony-Meiningen) . Most recently he worked in Wiesbaden.

From 1852 to 1857 he taught piano at the Stern Conservatory .

He composed a spring symphony , an overture to the winter fairy tale , a requiem for a child as well as numerous piano pieces, choral works and songs .
