Louis Emmanuel Jadin
Louis-Emmanuel Jadin (born September 21, 1768 in Versailles , † April 11, 1853 in Paris ) was a French composer .
Life
Louis-Emmanuel Jadin, son of the musician Jean-Baptiste Jadin (1744–1790) from what is now Belgium and who worked as a violinist in the court orchestra in Versailles, received his first music lessons from his father. He received further lessons as a page de la musique at the court of Louis XV. In 1783 the Théâtre Montansier hired him as a harpsichordist in Versailles. In 1792 he joined the orchestra of the National Guard . Between 1792 and 1795 he made numerous concert tours through various cities in France, at times together with François-Adrien Boieldieu . In 1796 he became professor of music theory (solfège) at the Paris Conservatory , but was dismissed two years later due to financial difficulties. In 1802 he was able to fill his position at the Conservatory again, from 1805 also as a piano teacher, which he held until his resignation in 1816. In 1806 he became conductor of the newly founded Théâtre Molière . Together with his brother Hyacinthe Jadin , he had an influence on the design of the wind orchestra style in the late 18th century. On May 1, 1821, Louis-Emmanuel Jadin became a Knight of the Legion of Honor.
Jadin was a sought-after teacher, composer and musician. He left behind an extensive catalog raisonné which includes many operas, a number of masses, choral music, songs, instrumental concerts, chamber music works and piano works.
