Louis Henri Marie Ferrand

Louis Henri Marie Ferrand (born January 1, 1906 in Loches ; † May 9, 2003 ) was Archbishop of Tours .

Life

Ferrand was ordained a priest on September 1, 1929 by the Archbishop of Tours Albert Nègre .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on January 11, 1954 Bishop of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne . The new Archbishop of Tours, Louis-Joseph Gaillard , donated him episcopal ordination on February 24 of the same year ; Co - consecrators were Gabriel-Marie Garrone , Coadjutor Archbishop of Toulouse , and Auguste-Léon-Alexis Cesbron , Bishop of Annecy .

On April 17, 1956, the Pope appointed him Titular Archbishop of Cyrrhus and Coadjutor Archbishop of Tours. After Louis-Joseph Gaillard's death, he succeeded him on October 28, 1956 as Archbishop of Tours. He attended every session of the Second Vatican Council . On September 9, 1980, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
