Linxe ( Gascon Linca ) is a French municipality with 1479 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of land in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Dax and the canton of Côte d'Argent . Linxe is a member of the Association of Municipalities Côte country Nature .
The name Linxe is derived from the Latin word Lintea (the place where the flax grows).
geography
The community is located about 130 kilometers south of Bordeaux , 80 kilometers north of Biarritz and 30 kilometers northwest of Dax . The distance to the Atlantic coast on the Bay of Biscay is 11 kilometers.
The Binaou, a stream that flows into the Étang de Léon, flows through the village.

- Lesperon in the east,
- Castets in the southeast,

economy
2.9% of the community area (238 ha) is used for agriculture. 139 hectares of this are used for growing maize. Pine forest covers 88% of the community area. The timber industry and wood processing provide most of the jobs.
Particle board was produced in the Darbo factory. The company was owned by the German-Swiss group Gramax Capital AG, which took over the plant from the Portuguese company Sonae Indústria in July 2015 . The plant filed for bankruptcy in 2017 and was closed.
Tourism plays an important role in the local economy (campsites, shopping facilities). This area mainly offers seasonal jobs.
