Saubusse is a French commune with 1,120 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Landes département of the Aquitaine region . The inhabitants call themselves Les Sibusates (see also Sibusaten ).

geography

The small thermal bath is located on the northern bank of the Adour , over which the Saint Jean bridge leads. The surrounding area is predominantly agricultural. The municipality is traversed by a stream called Saussède . Other streams in the local area are the Lespontès , the Hontines and the Jouanin , which flows into the Adour on the eastern edge of the village.

history

Saubusse is an old trading port on the Adour. Today you can still clearly see the wall of the port, which is used occasionally. The opening of the Dax- Bayonne railway in the 19th century ultimately ended trade on the river, mainly products from the forests and farms in the interior as well as products from the Bayonne area (fish, etc.) .
