Saint-Michel-Escalus is a French municipality with 305 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of land in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Dax and the canton of Côte d'Argent . Saint-Michel-Escalus is a member of the Association of Municipalities Côte country Nature .
geography
The community is located a good 30 kilometers northwest of Dax near the Atlantic coast on the Bay of Biscay . Neighboring communities are:
- Linxe in the north,
- Castets in the east,
- Léon in the south and
- Viel-Saint-Girons to the west.
history
The parish was created between 1790 and 1794 through the merger of the parishes of Saint-Michel and Escalus .
