Sonae Indústria, SGPS SA is a Portuguese listed manufacturer of wood-based panels. The company is part of the Sonae Group; it was founded in 1959 and is considered to be the real origin of the Sonae Group.

Sonae Indústria is one of the largest manufacturers of wood-based panels in the world. The product range includes a. Chipboard , medium density fibreboard (MDF); Hardboard and chipboard (OSB). Sonae Indústria manufactures and distributes high value added products and services to the furniture, construction, decoration and DIY industries. Furthermore, production of high pressure decorative laminates and manufacture of chemical products such as formaldehyde and formaldehyde resins.
The company has 29 production facilities and sales offices in eight countries: Portugal, France, Spain, Germany, Great Britain, Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland, South Africa and Brazil. In Germany u. a. the company Glunz in Meppen subsidiary of the Portuguese company, with German locations in Beeskow , Eiweiler , Horn-Bad Meinberg , Meppen and Nettgau .
At the end of 2015, the company announced the creation of a joint venture with the Chilean Arauco group; Sonae Industria is bringing its wood-based materials activities in Europe and South Africa, including glue / impregnation resin production at the Sires / Portugal site and the impregnation company ImPaper Europe, to the Sonae Industria subsidiary Tableros de Fibras SA (Tafisa). In return, Arauco will participate in the company through a capital increase, which will subsequently be renamed Sonae Arauco. The North American activities of Sonae Industria with the chipboard plant operating under the name Tafisa Canada in Lac-Mégantic / Québec and the laminate / elements business, to which the laminate production in Maia, an element plant in Portugal and the Horn-Bad Meinberg site are allocated, are excluded from the transaction ; the majority of the activities are henceforth assigned to this new joint venture.
The company's share is part of the leading Portuguese index PSI 20 ; the free float is approx. 31%, the rest is held by the Azevedo family through the Efanor holding company.
