Louis Joner

Ludwig Ernst "Louis" Joner (born January 30, 1880 in Badenweiler ; † April 14, 1956 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German hotelier. He was the owner of the Hotel Römerbad in Badenweiler.

Career

Joner came as the youngest of three children of the hotel owner Ludwig Joner (1823–1881) and Bertha Joner, nee. Herbster, (1847–1930) to the world. The family has been running the Römerbad spa hotel on Schlossplatz since 1824. His father died early.

He attended the humanistic high school in Freiburg i. Br., Which he left with the one-year certificate. After his mother's death on August 9, 1930, he took over the management of the hotel. He carried on the legacy of his parents and established the reputation of his house as a cultural institution. In the domed hall of the hotel, he initiated the annual Römerbad Music Days, which soon became known far beyond Baden.

In addition to various honorary positions in the municipality of Badenweiler, Joner was a member of the board of the Baden Tourist Association from 1947 to 1952. At the same time, he was a member of the federal executive board and the advisory board of the German National Tourist Board . When Joner handed over the presidency to Erwin Haas in 1952 , the Badischer Tourismusverband had 278 member communities.

From 1913 on, Joner was married to Berta Justus. The daughter Elisabeth Joner-Fellmann (1915-2001) and her husband Louis-Ferdinand Fellmann (1915-2001) took over the management of the hotel after his death.
